March 22: The Servant King

The Last Supper, from Mark 14 & John 13-14

Here is today’s lesson for the children and some other activities you can do with them at home. It is set up as one lesson so you can do it as a family with children from both classes together. Please feel free to have more in-depth discussion with your older children and choose which games, songs and activities are appropriate for your family’s ages.

Before you begin print out the craft and gather the materials for your chosen activities (see below under ACTIVITIES for the materials needed).

Once you have the materials for your chosen activities please click on the following link for the lesson plan: March 22 The Last Supper

Activities

4 Corners Game

YOU WILL NEED:  4 pieces of paper and label each one:

  • Feet Washing
  • 30 Pieces of Silver
  • Passover
  • The Last Supper

HOW TO PLAY:  Explain there are 4 aspects of Jesus’ death that we are going to look at today.  Attach each paper to a corner of the room or place on chair where it can be seen.  Parent will stand in the middle of the room with eyes closed and say, “GO”, everyone should choose one of the corners and run to that corner. Person in middle will call out the name of one of the corners and open eyes. Everyone in that corner is out and then you play another round and so on. Depending on how many people you have in your family just keep everyone in and play a few rounds together. Older kids can take turns being in the middle if they’d like.

Craft

Print the Last Supper picture through this link https://adobe.ly/33tKOBs and have your child/children colour their pages. When your child is finished colouring fold paper along dotted lines and while paper is cut in half cut along each end of the table from the top of it to the bottom of the legs. There is a video link here (https://youtu.be/Ezrzsimn-hU) with instructions showing where to fold and cut.

Songs

Last Supper Song

Sing this song about the Last Supper to the tune of Wheels on the Bus

The friends of Jesus like to eat and eat, Eat and eat, eat and eat
The friends of Jesus like to eat and eat At the last supper

Jesus took the wine and poured it all, Poured it all, poured it all
Jesus took the wine and poured it all At the last supper

Jesus took the bread and broke it up, Broke it up, broke it up
Jesus took the bread and broke it up At the last supper

Jesus showed friends His love and love, Love and love, love and love
Jesus showed friends His love and love, At the last supper

Hokey Pokey!

You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you put your right foot in and let Jesus wash it off.

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around.

Which king humbled himself for us?  JESUS!

You put your right foot in, you put your right foot out, you put your right foot in and let Jesus wash it off.
