Newsletter for Parents

November 20th, 2011
Dear Parents,

On behalf of Southwinds Church Children’s Department, we’d like to thank you so much for the opportunity to spend time with your children learning about our faith. They truly are a blessing to each of us who volunteer in this department.

Our annual Christmas production is coming up!! Each year the children learn and perform a Christmas play for the congregation. This year, we will be performing “Away in A Manger” on Sunday, December 11th during our regular worship service. For the last couple weeks, the children have been learning songs and some speaking parts. By next Sunday, we are hoping to have CD’s available for the children to take home and practice their songs. If you are able, practicing with your child/children at home would be great- especially for those with speaking roles. On our performance day, it would be great if you could arrive with your child/children by 9:45am so we have time to get them organized, dressed etc.

As you are aware, our new Sunday School space is very different from what we were used to at Auburn Bay House. We’ve had to adjust class routines and add in a few considerations to keep our classes running smoothly and safely. We’d like to share these with you:

Classroom doors will remain closed until 10:20 am. This gives teachers and volunteers time to setup, prepare and have a prayer time before class begins.

Having your child use the washroom before class is much appreciated.

We are unable to have food or beverages in the classroom. Please make sure your child has eaten before coming to class. The only exception for this is water (with your child’s name on it) and for children 3 and under. If your infant/toddler requires a snack, juice or bottle, please have it labeled.

     PLEASE NO NUTS!!!

We would be happy to hear from you!! Please bring your comments, ideas or thoughts to Pastor Bo, Deanne Armstrong or Karen Gill. Any parents interested in volunteering would be welcome. Please let us know if this is something you may be interested in.

Thank you,
